TAP-TSI - the standard data format for harmonizing data exchange between the railway operators ITCS and the infrastructure operator has been on everyone's radar since the European Commission's Implementing Regulation 2021/51 came into force.
Together with our customers, we have addressed this issue and, based on the development of the common interface (CI) between InLineWeb (ITCS) and the infrastructure operator, we have already been able to put numerous message types into operation after coordination.
These include familiar data types such as LeiDis messages, whose content is transmitted in the new TAP-TSI data format as "TrainRunningInformation", "TrainDelayCause" and "ChangeOfTrack". On the other hand, new message types, such as the "TrainRunningForecast", have already gone live for data exchange with the rail network operator.
The implementation of further message types, such as the train composition message "PassengerTrainComposition" or the train preparation message "TrainReady", is already in progress, so that the most important message types for our customers will gradually be available for communication between railway- and infrastructure operators.

Stuttgart/Berlin - Since January, Deutsche Bahn has been testing occupancy information on the station indicators in the S-Bahn network in the Stuttgart region. The information is visualized in 3 levels by means of passenger pictograms and displayed to the waiting passengers on the platform before the train arrives.
The data required for this from the vehicles is supplied in real time by the recently successfully approved and certified Automatic Passenger Counting System (APC) of INTERAUTOMATION Deutschland GmbH, which was implemented in collaboration and cooperation with ALSTOM (formerly Bombardier) for the S-Bahn series 423.
The quality requirements for systems for occupancy determination are currently still being discussed in the industry and in regulatory bodies. For this reason, and because the passenger numbers determined are also used for revenue sharing and traffic planning, the high certification requirements were applied in accordance with the strict rules of VDV-457. Passing the counting accuracy requirements of 99% is by no means a matter of course, since so-called systematic errors in particular (such as categorical under- or over-counting of boarding or alighting passengers) can have a negative impact even with the smallest deviations in the face of very high counting accuracy requirements and small permissible tolerances. The satisfaction of all involved was therefore great when the system was even able to demonstrate counting accuracies of more than 99.5% in the comparative count for boarding and alighting passengers.
Not least because of the passing of these high hurdles, the counting data is likely to be used in the future for the distribution of fare revenues.
In addition to recording passenger numbers, the system is also to be used to count bicycles in the future. This has already been technically realized. The associated recognition algorithms are currently being optimized and trained. The challenge lies in the small number of bicycles on the train compared to the number of passengers, as well as in the reliable recognition of the variety of different types of bicycles.
Manuel Mang, Managing Director of INTERAUTOMATION, says:
"We are pleased that we have been able to successfully implement another project for our customers with the completion of the official certification and that we are contributing to attractive public transport with our experience and solutions."

At the End of June, we were able to firstly introduce our new passenger-information-system (PIS) on two of the Stadler-vehicles (“Marie” and “Jeanne”) of the tramway Mont Blanc of Haute Savoie Council, in cooperation with our partners ErvoCom AG.
Various Functioning-tests in interaction with the TFT- and LED-Displays in the interior as well as the complete acoustic announcement-systems were scheduled for the day.
Besides Standard use cases, like the output of information regarding the „trip progress“, the „next stop“ and the „train destination“, immediate-operator-control-actions of the driver on the drivers display to control the displays and announcements were also tested.
A nice addition is the infotainment function that makes it possible to play videos between stops or to show live-positions of the train on a map.
Data management of the PIS as well as the infotainment content is provided by the InCloud.PIS backend system.

On the occasion of the 50th Jubilee of INTERAUTOMATION Deutschland GmbH, our team went on a weekend trip to the beautiful Erzgebirge.
In addition to a fascinating guided tour through a mine of the historical mining region, the highlights of the weekend included several stages of travel on the Preßnitztalbahn railroad and a hike up to the Fichtelberg with following 1.500m drive-down with the worlds longest Fly-Line.
Once again, big thanks to the Orga team and to Manuel Mang for the good preparation and catering as well as to our colleagues, that all contributed to this wonderful weekend.
More pictures and a detailed description of the trip can be found on our LinkedIn-profile:https://www.linkedin.com/company/interautomation-deutschland-gmbh/ - we are looking forward to seeing you there :)
